With reference to my Confidential Despatches

of the 21st. November and 13th. December last, I have the honour

to forward a translation of an article relative to the Canton lottery bonds which was published on the 16th. instant in the Chung Kuo Jih Pao newspaper at Canton.

Steps are being taken to prevent the introduct- -ion of these specially prepared bonds into the Colony .
